🩸🐾 In our hospital, a lot of heroes walk through the halls every day, but our hairiest ones — they wear bandanas.

This Blood Donor Month, we’re honoring the incredible dogs and cats on our Wall of Heroes whose donations help save lives every single day. Because of them, critically ill pets get second chances, families get more time, and chronically sick animals get a new lease on life.

As veterinary medicine continues to advance — including life-saving therapies offered at MVS like extracorporeal therapy (ECT), sometimes called pet dialysis — the need for blood products is greater than ever. We unfortunately have too many spaces that need filling on our wall of heroes.

Little miss Lottie came in to our hospital experie

Little miss Lottie came in to our hospital experiencing some back pain and neurological symptoms of IVDD that progressed quickly to her not being able to use her rear legs. She underwent an MRI and surgery when spinal cord compressions were identified.

Just two weeks later, Lottie came back to see us and she is doing phenomenally! We are so glad to see her back on her feet - although she still has some recovery time before she can get too crazy…😇🐾♥️

Paisley has been the best girl while receiving weekly Phovia Fluorescent Light Energy Therapy for a bacterial infection on her paws.

Phovia light therapy helps reduce inflammation, stimulate wound healing, and target bacterial infections—all without discomfort. This innovative therapy has many applications in dermatology and is now offered at MVS as part of our commitment to advanced, compassionate care.

This is Nash - a very, very good boy who was an absolute doll and easily a team favorite during his hospitalization in late November. It’s gotta be those eyes, right? 🥹

We’re so thankful 🙏🏼 these wonderful families trusted us with their lovely little lady and lad for their spinal surgeries. Dr. Lau and her neurology team saved the day yet again — both Karma and Emma were unable to support themselves or walk when they arrived at the hospital. Emma had even lost her pain response in her tail, making her prognosis more concerning.

Two weeks post-surgery, both returned for rechecks and have made incredible strides (pun intended). We’re so happy for them and their families. ❤️🐾

🌟 Dermatology is coming back to MVS full-time starting this month! 🌟

We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Emily Binversie has joined our team.

Dr. Binversie grew up in northern Illinois and is a proud University of Wisconsin–Madison alum, where she earned her DVM, MS, and PhD. Her graduate research explored the genetics of naturally occurring canine orthopedic diseases. After completing a small animal rotating internship here in Wisconsin, she pursued a Dermatology Residency at Iowa State University, where she was honored with the John G. Evans Memorial Award for Clinical Competency and the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center Champions of Care Award for her outstanding patient care, client communication, and clinical skills.

Dr. Binversie’s special interests include canine and feline allergies, immune-mediated diseases, recurrent skin and ear infections, advanced otoscopic procedures, and CO₂ laser surgery.

When she’s not helping pets feel comfortable in their own skin, Dr. Binversie enjoys spending time with her husband and golden retriever, attending concerts, hiking, cooking, exploring breweries, and watching movies.
